Bali-Indonesia

BALI
Bali Island, the perfect holiday destination for all ages offers something for everyone. Bali offers not just various customs but also various "adrenalin pump" parks. Many exciting amusements are available in Bali, with something new opening all the time. The number of offshore and inland attraction are on the rise because many tourists want them. This tropical paradise has a unique blend of modern tourist facilities combined with wonderful shopping and a rich past and heritage. After white water rafting that has gained popularity in Bali, comes offshore rafting or ocean rafting. The more adventurous sort of amusement has now become an alternative sport for tourists. Meanwhile white water rafting is still a popular activity with trips on Ayung, Telaga Waja, Unda Rivers, etc. The tourists can refresh their mind by watching beautiful scenery along the route. Those are not enough, some of the best surfing beaches in the world can be found on the western side of the island whilst conversely the eastern side is a wonderful haven for families, with beautiful white sand beaches and gentle seas.

Bali is small island, just 140 Km by 80 Km and lies between Java, the most highly populated and influential of all the islands, and Lombok, one of the quieter and moderately slower paced islands. Like many islands, Bali has developed a world of its own. It not only captures what is special about Indonesia but also has a uniqueness of its own.
The culture of Bali is unique. People say that the Balinese people have reached self-content. The Balinese people are proud of having preserved their unique Hindu culture against the advance of Islam, the dominant religion throughout Indonesia. This is still reflected in days to day life and can be seen in the numerous ceremonies, Balinese festivals and magnificent temples and palaces. The Balinese are skilled artisans, particularly in woodcarving and in fashioning objects of tortoiseshell and of gold, silver and other metals. The Balinese are noted for their traditional dance, the distinctive music of the gamelan and for their skills in weaving cloth of gold and silver threads, Songket, as well as for embroidering silk and cotton clothing. Stone and woodcarvings, traditional and modern paintings and intricately designed jewelry in gold and silver are readily available in shops and galleries throughout the island.
As for recreation, there is no shortage of options. Nature walks, horseback riding, diving, surfing - even bungy jumping and white water rafting - await the adventurous here.

Geographically
Bali is volcanically active and extravagantly fertile. Bali has an area of 5620 sq km, measures approximately 140 km by 80 km and is just 8 degrees south of the equator. Mount Agung known as the 'mother mountain' is over 3000 meters. South and north of the central mountains are Bali's fertile agricultural lands. The southern region is a wide, gently sloping area where most of Bali's abundant rice crop is grown. The south-central area is the true rice basket of the Island. The northern coastal strip is narrower, rising more rapidly into the foothills of the central range, but the main export crops, coffee, copra and rice, are grown here. Cattle are also raised in this area.

Why I Turn Down PlayBoy

'I once turned down $500,000 to pose naked for Playboy. The magazine was even prepared to pay me $500,000 to pose with my clothes on,' said Nelly Furtado
She lives in Canada, loves everything British and her new album is in Spanish. Confused? Let Nelly Furtado explain...
 - You wouldn’t dare accuse Nelly Furtado of lacking enthusiasm. Energy flows from her like a military laser. She’s a constant whirl of restlessness, barely waiting to hear the sense of each question before diving in mid-sentence, her answers pinging off in all different directions.

So girlish is her excitement that it’s easy to forget Furtado is something of a pop veteran who’s been recording for a decade.

The daughter of Portuguese parents (who emigrated to Canada in the late Sixties), she made her breakthrough with the single I’m Like A Bird in 2000, and her genre-hopping debut album Whoa, Nelly! sold seven million copies.

Now 30, she lives in Toronto with her husband and six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. Her latest album, Mi Plan, is sung entirely in Spanish.

Britain rules the world.

I adore all things British. I can’t get enough of shopping for vintage clothes on Portobello Road and I love eating fish and chips in Liverpool. The best thing I’ve ever tasted was mango chutney from a Kensington market.

Also, the British media make up the best stories about me; they always make me sound a lot more exciting than I really am. I read in one paper that at a music awards show in Copenhagen I was presented with a toilet that had an aquarium in the cistern. Totally untrue, sadly.

I was inconsolable when Oasis split up.

That band meant the world to me. As a 16-year-old I would write letters to Liam with my photo attached and pray that he would ask me out on a date, but he never did.  At college I learned to play guitar to Wonderwall. Oasis were everything I loved about pop music. They could express emotions with the most simple song structures. They had the kind of brash attitude I could completely relate to

When I meet Ronaldo I’ll tell him to stop diving.

After singing the anthem for Euro 2004 I’ve become a massive football fan. I adore Ronaldo because he plays with so much natural fire and passion.

It’s like watching an incredible dancer. His movement on the ball is breathtaking. But he has to stop diving.

Fame took me by surprise and I ended up having a breakdown.

It was too much too soon. After two years of intense touring and partying I’d spend hours alone in my LA home, just staring at the floor. I felt like a fraud, believing that people liked me for my image and not my music.

I once turned down $500,000 to pose naked for Playboy.

The magazine was even prepared to pay me $500,000 to pose with my clothes on. I didn’t want Playboy on my resume at the age of 22. If they ask me when I’m 40 I’ll probably say yes.

It’s important to fail in order to evolve.

I wouldn’t say my second album was a failure but, commercially, it wasn’t as good as my first [it sold less than two million copies].

That was the best thing that could have happened to me. It meant that everything slowed down and I was finally able to take stock of my life.

You know you’re in the presence of genius when you’re in a room with Timbaland.

We worked together on my Loose album and we’re currently working on a new one too. Of all the great talents I’ve worked with, he’s got the genius touch.

The man is a snake-charmer. He knows exactly how to draw the best out of someone. And like everyone touched with genius, he has a touch of madness about him, too.

I’ve always been obsessive-compulsive.

As a kid I had the whole don’t-step-on-the-pavement-cracks thing going on. I was an awkward, paranoid child.
There are times when I long to be a hermit living in a cottage.

I often crave that sort of solitude. But having a husband and a daughter tends to get in the way of that…

Nelly Furtado’s new album ‘Mi Plan’ is out now on Polydor

Little Girl Performs Striptease

Lady of the night: Susan Sarandon's daughter Eva Amurri stars as a stripper and student, in the latest series of Californication with David Duchovny
Most mothers would wince at the scenes that budding actress Eva Amurri performs as a student who turns to stripping in the latest series of U.S. hit show Californication.

But her mum can hardly complain, for she is none other than Susan Sarandon, who cut her acting teeth in very similar roles more than 20 years ago.

In The Hunger in 1983, she peeled off for a controversial lesbian love scene with Catherine Deneuve and she has never shied away from nudity in films.

Now Eva, at the tender age of 24, appears to have taken a leaf out of momma's book as she bids to kickstart her own acting career.

Eva, a product of Sarandon's relationship with an Italian director during the Eighties, shows off her acting skills in a racy guest appearance.

She stars as Jackie, a student who moonlights in a strip club, during the third season of the show starring David Duchovmy.

And she certainly seems to have caught Duchovny's eye. The 24-year-old writhed around for his college professor character Hank Moody, peeling off a corset to dance for him topless.

And before she knows it, she's back at his place taking their relationship to the next level. But whether Eva will have the staying power of her mother's acting career remains to be seen.

Susan Sarandon, now 62, has been in dozens of roles since first starring in Joe in 1970, including the straight-laced Janet in The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1975 and in Thelma and Louise as the latter. She won an Oscar in 1995 for Dead Man Walking.

She married Tom Robbins after meeting him on the set of Bull Durham in 1988 and it was his film Bob Roberts, about a guitar-playing politician, that saw the first appearance onscreen for Eva.

Her roles subsequently have been limited to a guest appearance in Friends (season 7) and The Banger Sisters, in 2002, in which her mother also starred. But it is in Californication that she is likely to gain most attention, parading as she does so many of her inherited features.

Long trip story of Noordin before he Died

Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country, has been hit by a series of terrorist attacks in recent years blamed on Islamist militants. Here is a brief look at major developments:

— August 2009 — A 16-hour siege at a farmhouse in central Java kills a hotel florist, Ibrohim, who allegedly helped carry out bomb attacks at two luxury hotels in Jakarta the previous month that killed seven and wounded more than 50. Police also fatally shoot two alleged militants and confiscate hundreds of pounds (kilograms) of explosives and bombs.

 — Nov. 8, 2008: Government executes three Islamic militants for the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people.

 — June 2007: Authorities arrest the alleged leader of regional terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah, Afghan-trained militant Abu Dujana, and seven other suspected terrorists in raids on Java.

— November 2005: Bomb-making expert Azahari bin Husin is killed during a police raid on a terrorist safe house on Java island. Information from that raid leads to other arrests. Fugitive militant leader Noordin Top appears on video soon after, threatening more attacks.

— October 2005: Triple suicide bombers kill 20 in attacks on restaurants on the resort island of Bali.

gunfire,Blast in Indonesian Anti-Terror Raid

End Of Terorist Story : Noordin M top

Pasukan Densus 88
SOLO, KOMPAS.com — An explosion and gunfire rocked a besieged village house in central Indonesia where counterterrorism forces hunted Thursday for suspects in July’s twin suicide bombings in the capital, witnesses and officials said. At least two body bags were removed from the scene.

Police cordoned off a neighborhood late Wednesday in a suburb of the Central Java city of Solo, a stronghold for hardline Islamist groups, and shots rang out through the night, an Associated Press reporter at the scene said.

An explosion went off around daybreak Thursday and four ambulances later drove away carrying at least two bodies in orange  bags, the reporter said.

Police had confirmed a special forces operation was unfolding, but declined to give details. They could not be reached to comment on local television reports that police officers were injured in a shootout.

“I ran out of my house in fear when I heard the gunfire,” said Widjan, a neighbor, who like many Indonesian goes by one name. The besieged property was rented several months ago by a young couple, and the two work as teachers at an Islamic boarding school and a kindergarten, local village chief Suratim said.

Police were searching for key suspects believed to be hiding at the house, an official with the counterterrorism force said. Backup units with anti-explosives equipment were deployed, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not allowed to talk to the media.

The raid comes as police continue a massive manhunt for perpetrators of attacks on the J.W. Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta on July 17. The blasts killed seven people and wounded more than 50, ending nearly four years without terrorist strikes in the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country.

Several suspects have been detained or gunned down in raids in recent weeks, but the alleged terrorist mastermind, Malaysian fugitive Noordin Muhammad Top, remains at large. Police are also still searching for several militant operatives believed to have planned the operation and recruited the bombers.
Noordin allegedly leads a breakaway group of the Southeast Asian terrorist network Jemaah Islamiyah, which carried out a string of bombings in Indonesia in recent years with the support of al-Qaida.

Terrorist attacks have killed 250 people in Indonesia since 2002, most of them in the 2002 Bali nightclub bombing that left more than 200 people dead, most of them foreign tourists.

Stocks Extend Gains to 5 Days after Jobs Report

In this Sept. 30, 2008 file photo, Wall St. is shown in New York. Investors are adding more money to stocks following a drop in weekly unemployment claims Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, and an upbeat forecast from Procter & Gamble.
NEW YORK, KOMPAS.com – Investors poured money into stocks for a fifth day after a drop in weekly unemployment claims and a spike in oil raised hopes for the economy.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 80 points Thursday to its highest close since November. The index is up 347 points in five days, its longest winning streak since last fall.

The gains have come even as analysts say the market is overdue for a retreat. The advance followed the Labor Department's report that jobless claims fell more than expected to 550,000 last week. A jump in oil lifted energy companies and an upbeat forecast from consumer products maker Procter & Gamble Co. added to enthusiasm about an economic recovery.

Momentum grew in midafternoon as Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told a Congressional panel that confidence and stability were returning to the economy after the panic that began a year ago.

Some pieces of bad news held back certain shares but didn't get in the way of a broad market advance. Agricultural company Monsanto Co. warned that its 2009 earnings would come in at the low end of its forecast and said it would cut more jobs than previously announced.

Investors voiced concerns about the pace of the gains but few wanted to stand in the way of a market that was carving its way higher. The Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 54.3 percent since hitting a 12-year low in March. It is sitting at an 11-month high, though it's still down 33.3 percent from its peak in October 2007.

Ralph Fogel, co-chief investment officer at Fogel Neale Partners in New York, argues that too many analysts are now expecting a pullback for it to actually happen. He pointed to a well-tested piece of Wall Street wisdom that if a certain prediction becomes too widely expected in the marketplace, that conclusion is often wrong.

"I'm not sure why sure this market is going to slow up so much," Fogel said. "We look for a nice continued move upward."

According to preliminary calculations, the Dow rose 80.26, or 0.8 percent, to 9,627.48 to its highest close since Nov. 3, when it ended at 9,319.83.

The broader S&P 500 index rose 10.77, or 1 percent, to 1,044.14. The index hasn't risen five straight days since a streak that ended Nov. 28. The Nasdaq composite index rose 23.63, or 1.2 percent, to 2,084.02.

Bond prices jumped after a $12 billion auction of 30-year Treasury notes drew strong demand. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note fell to 3.36 percent from 3.48 percent late Wednesday. The yield on the 30-year bond fell to 4.20 percent from 4.33 percent.

Investors made selective bets on companies following a mixed batch of corporate forecasts. P&G rose $2.28, or 4.2 percent, to $56.04, while Monsanto fell $4.18, or 5 percent, to $79.30.

Some analysts remain cautious. Subodh Kumar, global investment strategist at Subodh Kumar & Associates in Toronto, contends that the market has gone too far without a break.

"The fact that it got here without any meaningful corrections means it hasn't stopped since March to test the validity of its assumptions," he said.

Three stocks rose for every one that fell on the New York Stock Exchange, where volume came to 813.5 million shares compared with 875.3 million at the same point Wednesday. The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies rose 8.50, or 1.5 percent, to 594.90.
The dollar fell against other major currencies. Gold slipped.

Light, sweet crude rose 63 cents to $71.94 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Overseas, Britain's FTSE 100 fell 0.3 percent, Germany's DAX index rose 0.4 percent, and France's CAC-40 fell 0.1 percent. Japan's Nikkei stock average rose 2 percent.

Still got it: Claudia Schiffer poses topless on the front cover of Tank magazine
Claudia Schiffer may be more supermum than supermodel these days but she found time to strip off for a rare au natural photoshoot ahead of her 40th birthday.

Posing topless on the front cover of Tank magazine, the German model shows she's still got the same amazing figure which first captivated fashion designers in the late Eighties. In the earthy, unretouched shots, the 39-year-old looks fresh-faced as she lets her true beauty shine through.

The Tank cover shot is reminiscent of Claudia's early modelling days, in which she posed topless in a pair of jeans for Guess. In the provocative shoot photographed by Luis Sanchis, the mother-of-two poses in several shots wearing little but her underwear and a Van Cleef and Arpels necklace.

The magazine shoot is the second time Claudia has appeared topless in recent weeks. She teamed up with fellow Nineties catwalk queen Naomi Campbell and Eva Herzigova to strip off in the adverts for Dolce & Gabbana's new fragrance Anthology.

And despite growing closer to her 40th birthday, Claudia insists she will continue to strip as she ages. Claudia told the Daily Mail's Richard Kay: 'I'm happy to do it.

'I didn't work out, I didn't do anything special for the advert and I wasn't even nervous. Of course, as a model it is normal to be taking your clothes off all the time.

'I wouldn't think I was ever too old to do something like that. I mean, maybe if I was 60 or 70, then yes, I'd stop doing nude shoots, but then I guess it depends who is asking. 'With Mario Testino, for example, who is such a brilliant photographer, you would do anything.'

As she prepares for her 40th next year, Claudia insists she will age gracefully without the aid of surgery or Botox. She said: 'It's poison in my skin and no-one knows the long-term effects. I'm far more scared of that than a wrinkle on my forehead.

'All of my friends are my age and we are all ageing at the same time. We talk about it and moan, but it doesn't bother me.' Her sexy image in the shoot is a far cry from Claudia's appearance yesterday, as she dressed down in jeans and a sweater to join other mum's outside her children's school yesterday.

Later on, she donned a leopard-print dress to attend a Vogue magazine party at Burberry in Bond Street. To see more photos of Claudia, visit Tank magazine's website at www.tankmagazine.com

Indonesian earn living in cruise ship

Tens of thousands of Indonesians are now working on various international cruise ships as crew members, cooks, restaurant waiters and even captains, Jumhur Hidayat said here on Tuesday.

"They receive thousands of dollars a month," the head of the Indonesian Manpower Protection and Placement Agency (BNP2TKI) said when dedicating a BNP2TKI office building in Yogyakarta.

Jumhur said the government had been encouraging Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) to seek employment in the formal sectors such as cruise ships as nurses or technicians or in the hotel industry.

He said of six million TKIs abroad only around 38 percent worked in the formal sectors with the rest working working in the informal sectors such as as housemaids. According to him,  the TKIs that worked in the cruise ships possessed adequate skills so that they had positions."They have also worked for years," he said. In general, he stated that they initially departed by their own initiative and they later grouped especially after they already worked in the ships.

The TKIs in the ships are mostly from Bali, Makassar, Sumatra and Java. Jumhur said international cruise ships liked TKIs because they were considered good at cooking, polite, not drinking and easy to cooperate with. Indonesia meanwhile would send 450 workers to work as nurses or caregivers in Japan this year, under the cooperation program between the two countries’ governments.

The number is part of the 1000 workers the two countries had agreed to be sent to Japan within two years to work in the sector.  Last year the country had already sent 106 workers to that country.

Sex woman feel

Women Really Have Sex

WANT to get a woman into bed? Then don't forget to take the bins out. And it might help to run the Hoover round too.

According to a new book, Why Women Have Sex, having the earth move is often the last thing on their minds. After quizzing 1,000 women, it highlights 200 reasons why girls agree to a romp.

They include beating boredom and "because he bought me a nice dinner". Around 84 per cent of those surveyed admitted to having sex in return for getting household chores done or simply for a quiet life.

Others do it to CURE a headache, as an excuse to avoid dinner dates or even to make a partner jealous through cheating.
